Organisation

12.11.2012

The General Meeting, convening twice per year, holds supreme decision-making power at Teosto. Around 700 of Teosto’s almost 28,000 music author and publisher members are also Teosto ordinary members.

Teosto’s member organisations include the Guild of Light Music Composers and Authors in Finland (Elvis), the Society of Finnish Composers and the Finnish Music Publishers Association.

Board of Directors

The chairman and members of the Teosto Board of Directors are elected at the General Meeting. The Board, including the chairman, comprises six members: one member from each group of music authors (popular and contemporary music composers and lyricists), one member representing all authors, and two members representing music publishers. Half of the members of the Board of Directors are subject to re-election each year.

Advisers to the board of directors are Hannu Takkula and Esa Korvenmaa.

The purpose of the organisation

The purpose of the organisation is defined in the Teosto regulations: “Teosto is a non-profit organisation, whose purpose is to supervise and administer all matters concerning musical and the related literary copyright in Finland and abroad, while promoting Finnish creative music and its general preconditions.”
