The time limit for submitting performance notifications will become stricter in the autumn. From October 2017 onwards, the notifications must be made within three months of the performance. Notifications submitted after this will not be accepted. In other words, performance notifications will follow a strict quarterly schedule.
The aim of this change is to make the invoicing of performing right royalties more efficient, which will allow us to distribute the royalties to music authors sooner. Until now, Teosto has received performance notifications up to one year later, and the number of notifications submitted in January has risen to thousands. This has been extremely labour-intensive and slowed down the payment of royalties.
The information submitted with performance notifications is vital for music authors; we use it to distribute royalties to the authors of music performed at events, concerts and gigs.
Last year, we received more than 42,000 performance notifications. Thank you for being so active — this is a really good result!
