Teosto is an association established by music authors to supervise their interests and rights. We actively participate in social discussion and our goal is to enable the success of professional music authors.
The key themes behind our objectives include improving the occupational and social security of music authors, renewing the taxation of copyright compensations, supporting entrepreneurship and promoting cultural export. Our goal is to secure the basic prerequisites of making and publishing music professionally.
We focus on social influence on many different levels and attempt to ensure that those with the power of decision-making hear the voices of our authors. Teosto’s cultural ambassadors, i.e. the music authors themselves, communicate to members of the Finnish Parliament and MEPs on current themes that are important to music authors.
We meet social decision-makers regularly and systematically. We supervise the interests of music authors in legal drafting by providing statements and participating in the operations of the copyrights committee appointed by the Ministry of Education and Culture.
In our operations, we utilise up-to-date research and market information both produced by Teosto and acquired from external sources. Teosto takes part in the IPR University Center exercising research and training operations related to immaterial rights. We also take part in the influencing operations of the Luovan alan tekijät ja yrittäjät Lyhty project.
