Teosto and YouTube renew licence

02.02.2018

Teosto and YouTube have renewed the licence for the use of music on YouTube in Finland. The agreement ensures that music authors and publishers who are members of Teosto are paid royalties when YouTube users listen to their music in Finland.

Music authors and publishers can continue to use YouTube to distribute their own music and YouTube users can enjoy videos containing music in the future as well.

“We are glad to have reached an agreement with YouTube. Our aim is to ensure that our members receive compensation when their music is used.  We want to make sure that consumers can access all their favourite music and that music lovers are able to enjoy music content in the most effortless way,” says Teosto’s CEO Katri Sipilä.

“The renewal of our agreement with Teosto is a great step in our goal of ensuring we provide more value to music creators and the best possible experience to Finnish consumers”, says Sami Valkonen, Director of International Music Publishing Partnerships, YouTube.

Music authors and publishers receive royalties for videos that feature commercials and are part of the YouTube partner programme.
